L from now on is proven that a 14 year old child who spends more than one hour per day in front of the television runs a greater risk of school failure than those which look at it less longer, concludes an American epidemiologic study published in May by the newspaper Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine.
This investigation, quoted by the national Union of family associations (UNAF), made it possible to measure the effect of television on the school success, independently of the social standing or educational of the families, or the former problems of training or memory of the children. Thus, a teenager who more than looks at the divided television three hours per day by two his chances to follow higher studies, compared to those which look at it less than one hour.
The researchers could check, in addition, that it is well the televisual consumption which cause problems of attention, and not the reverse. In France, the duration in front of television is, since the beginning of the year, in rise in the old children from 4 to 14 years (+ 8 minutes per day). It is established at two hours twenty per day.
